A clear photo report when the repair is finished

A customer who was not on site should be able to see which area you worked on, what you did and what still needs attention. A short report with matching photos and factual notes makes that handover easier to follow.

This checklist is for independent workers preparing a customer update. Agree with your customer where the report should be sent and whether they require a particular format.

What to include

  1. Job details. Identify the customer, site, job date and your business. Use only the details needed for the handover.
  2. The work area. Give each item a specific location, such as “Hallway — cupboard door.” This connects the note to the right photos.
  3. A before photo. Show the condition you observed. Keep useful context in the frame and avoid unrelated people or personal belongings.
  4. An after photo from a similar angle. Make it easy to compare the same area. Keep the original photos; do not retouch away defects.
  5. A factual work note. State what you actually did and checked. Separate observations from suspected causes. Include any unfinished work or agreed follow-up.
  6. A final review. Check the customer, date, photo order and wording in the PDF before sharing it with the intended recipient.

Example: a cupboard-door handover

Fictional example for wording only; this is not a real completed job or repair instruction.

Location: Hallway cupboard, left door.

Before: The door caught against the frame when closing.

Work completed: Adjusted the hinge position. Opened and closed the door five times after adjustment; it cleared the frame during those checks.

Remaining item: The existing paint chip beside the lower hinge remains. No repainting was included.

Use your own observed facts. If you did not carry out a check, leave it out. A photo and a note should not imply a diagnosis or guarantee you have not established.

Turn the handover into a PDF on iPhone

In JobLeaf, add the customer and job details, create a work item, attach its before-and-after photos and enter your note. Preview the PDF, then export it through the iPhone share sheet. Repeat with another work item when you need to document a different area.

Know what the report covers

JobLeaf keeps your notes and photos together on your device. It does not inspect photos, diagnose faults, issue invoices, collect payments or replace a customer's work-order portal. Optional wording assistance depends on Apple Intelligence support; typed notes and PDF reports work without it. Check every suggestion against the work you actually performed.
